Turtles through the year!

REVISION ADDED 02-01-2012:  I WON, I WON @ For Fun Challenges!!!! So VERY Happy!  Thank you For Fun Challenges for choosing my Turtle Calendar as your winner!

Hello there!  I know that you read the title and are wondering what I mean, right? ......... Well I am not talking about the chocolates, I am talking about a keepsake calendar that I made using all turtle images for a friend of mine that is in LOVE with TURTLES (crazy is probably a better way to describe it,lol).

Just to prepare you, you may want to go get a cup of joe or some cocoa as this will be a lengthy post =), I sure hope that you take the moment to go through the whole post........ so once your ready, here we go!

Here is a picture of the actual calendar, this is the front of the calendar;
 As you can see the calendar was a Christmas present. The Year of Memories Keepsake Calendar is a 6x6 top and bottom.  I pulled out my Quickutz Holiday set and cut out the Merry Christmas and the pine trees to decorate the front a little bit (and to hide the logo on the front of the calendar).  I took my Sakura sparkly pen and coloured in the "Keepsake Calendar" wording to give it some bling and I also put a little dot using the pen over the black dots that were on the design of the calendar front.

Here is a photo of the back of the calendar where they gave you space to put your name on it under the "Handcrafted By" section. Again here I used my Sakura sparkly pen and blinged up the words.

All the turtle images you are about to see are from Bugaboo Digi Stamps and they all were so fun and easy to colour. All the turtles "bodies" are coloured in the same copic coulours throughout: YG97, YG95 & YG93, so under each picture I will only note the shell colours and any other colours used on the month's picture.

We will start off with JANUARY(of course)....here is a photo of the whole page open so you can see what the calendar would look like hanging on the wall, but I am only showing this style of picture this month as the post will be long just showing you the adorable tutles =). For each month I put a co-ordinating cardstock or printed paper on the bottom part of the calendar to tie it all together as I did not have calendar months small enough to put in that space. For wach calendar month I used my "Quickutz Calendar Months Cookie Cutters Set" as you will see in each month photo and all cardstock is from Michaels Recollection 8.5x11 cardstock packs.

Tilda Birthday Wishes

Hello again!  I hope that you are having a good week so far?!? The weather here is pretty weird, from down right bone chilling cold, then up to 9 degrees (celsius) then back down and flurries.  My body is sooooo not enjoying this up and down temperatures.  Thank goodness Friday is getting closer so that I can be at home and play in my pink palace this weekend wearing my pink snuggie!! LOL

This week another girl at my work, Devi,  is celebrating her birthday.  I made this cute "Tilda with Daffodil" image for her and even tried a new technique! I was so proud of myself as I usually just stick to what I know and afraid to try somehting new incase it turns out poopie, lol.

Here is a picture of the card....
SUPPLIES USED:
* White A2 card & envelope
* Magnollia Stamp "Tilda with Daffodil"
* Michaels $1.50 bin Birthday Sentiment
* Stampin' Up Melon Mombo Embossing Powder
* Versa Mark Ink
* Heating tool
* Michaels $1.50 bin Yellow pigment Ink (for boarder of sentiment)
* Copic X-Press paper
* Coipic Markers (colours listed below if interested)
* Smooch Spritz - Pink Sprinkles
* SmoochSpritz - Vanilla Shimmer
* Spellbinders Nestabilities Labels 8 to make the shape of the card
* Yellow Peeko Ribbon (from my stash-sooo old)
* Pink Ribbon (from my stash)
* Creative Memories Delightful White/Yellow Paper Flower
* The Twinery Yellow/White Twine
* Pink Button (from my stash)
* 3D pop dots
* AGT

The new technique is that I used Smooch Spitz to create my background for this card instead of using a patterned paper  or cardstock (which is not rocket science by any means at all, I was just too afraid to spray this stuff in my pink palace in case I got it everywhere, especially on my image!).  I took out the Spellbinder Nestability that I cut the shape of the card from and layed it on the card, then I taped it down on the outside edges so that it would not move (but it did a bit of course-Murphy's Law right-we are best buds sometimes), then I used one Smooch Spritz then the other Smooch Spritz till I got the effect I was looking for.  I had a few drops that came out instead of a nice fine mist and some ran down in the white area I wanted to keep white (grrr) so then I just grabbed my white gel pen and went over the spots after they were dry and then they were gone (mostly).

Next time I try this again I will use my repositional tape around the whole Spellbinder instead of here and there, as when the paper got damp it started to curl and that is what caused my little drops to run.  I do think that I will definaltely try this again as the glimmer effect that I got was pretty cool =)  Could even spray on patterned paper or cardstock just to add a little bit of pizzaz!

Here is a close up of Tilda and the Copic colours I used.....
COPIC COLOURS USED:
* Skin:  E13,E11,E00 (needed to go for a "brown" skin tone on this card)
* Hair:  W9,W7,W5,E749,
* Shirt:  RV10,RV00,RV000
* Jeans:  B99,B97,B95
* Shoes:  W7,W5,W3,W1,W00

Please let me know if you know of a better way to use the Smooch Sprtiz other than the way I mentioned above, I know there has got to be an easier way to do it with out dripping into the areas you want to keep "clean", right??

Till next time, keep crafting!

Pink isn't just a color,it's an ATTITUDE!

Hello there! Today I have a special card to show to you.  I had such a blast making this card and the image was  so fun to colour.  I found this image on  Little Scraps of Heaven Designs  and immediately fell in love with it.  I am a BIG supporter of Breast Cancer and as soon as I saw this image I knew that I needed to download and colour it!  Isn't the bear just the cutest??!!

I decided to make an easel card for this image and used my favorite colour - PINK!!! (can you tell I like pink, just a tiny little bit).

I followed a few challenge guidelines in order to create this adorable card: follow a sketch for LSHD (check), use pink, navy & white (check), favorite colour (check-pink!), anything goes (check-easy!), digital image-anything goes (check & check), make an easel card (check) & make your own flower (check).  Wow that is a lot of stuff but I think the card turned out wonderfully!

Normally I am my worst critic but I have to say I LOVE MY CARD! LOL!

Here is a frontal view of the card......

Toronto Maple Leaf Birthday Card

HOLY MOLY, 2 posts in 1 day!  Be sure to scroll down to my previous post after reading this one :)

As you know from my profile, you can see that I am from Ontario, Canada - and Im a HUGE Toronto Maple Leaf Fan.  I made this birthday card for my sister-in-law Cathie as she is a TML fan too and this stamp called Melanie, looks a lot like my sister-in-law.

What I LOVE about this stamp from Kraftin`Kimmie is that you can also use this stamp to make a Team Canada jersey too.  Being from Canada it is just a give in that you have to LOVE hockey, and I do! :)  I think it is pretty cool too that the CN Tower is in the background.
